I take desipramine 100mg, lamictal 200mg and abilify 5 mg. I have trouble falling asleep--but the main problem is once I do, it is such a light sleep, I feel I am almost awake.
Which of these may be making it harder? I had understood they all make you sleepy and are best taken at night.

Abilify can keep people awake. I don't know about lamictal, but some get insomnia from desipramine too. It is one of the least sedating TCA's.

Desipramine less sedating than clomipramine?? That would be good news; I could take clomipramine any time of the day, like candy--had no effect; so I'll give a morning try of at least desipramine.

I take desipramine and lamictal, but I also take Ambien. It helps me get a good night's sleep every night.

Desipramine keeps me up, I had to start taking all of it in the AM.

I have to agree. Insomnia is one of the first things people complain about with Abilify and Geodon. Desipramine might allow you to get to sleep, but it might be light and choppy. Whichever of the two it is (or both), it is usually only a temporary side effect that should dissipate within the first few weeks.
I don't remember having insomnia when I first started taking Lamictal. I'm now taking 300mg.

Thanks!! I did try taking desipramine in the am and it is better; I don't know if it would be stilll better if I also took Abilify in the am.
