Hi,
I've been on Cymbalta for about 2 1/2 months. Unfortunately it causes headaches and is not really working. I seem to have 5 or 6 bad days followed by 1 or 2 bad but not quite as bad days.
There is a very long list of psych drugs I can't take due to bad reactions. I am thinking of giving TCAs another try. Here is my experience with them:
Polypharmacy of Amitryptaline and Desimpramine caused a psychotic break. Nortryptiline made me irritable.
Any ideas?
Oh yeah, price-wise dirt cheap is preferable.

Have you ever considered a TCA with a mood stabilizer?
The TCAs have the tendency to make me irritable as well, but with a mood stabilizer, they're perfect for relieving my depression without causing any other mood-related side effects.
Or perhaps you would respond to Clomipramine as monotherapy, as it is more serotonergic than any of the other TCAs.

The ones you've taken act quite heavily on norepinephrin...I've heard some people complain that norepinephrin overload can cause agitation. There are others that work more on serotonin. Clomipramine is a big one.
I think all TCAs are dirt cheap, they've been along forever.
But I'd wonder what the pdoc said about your psychotic break? What happened? What is your diagnosis?

imapramine (did i spell it right?) was my favorite, and i tryed them all. doesn't make me tired or irritable like the others- no weight gain either.

Had you tried desipramine? I already feel I'm gaining weight; but I had understood imipramine was worse for weight.

>Desipramine is actually the most weight-neutral of all the tricyclics.
This is the end of the thread.
