Please tell me about Ativan or Xanax

Posted by mmcconathy on January 4, 2005, at 15:43:53

I'm going to switch to it, and i wonder how the effects are going to be like.

Klonopin comes on so slow i forget i even took it, and really doesnt help at all, I take 2mg. It takes off "sharp" or intense anxiety, but still not that uneasyness feeling.

Xanax may be too much for me, so that's why im asking about Ativan also.

I've taken Ativan several years back, .5mg, for a temoporary basis for anxiety from Dexedrine, but it didnt help.

Do you mind describing the effects?

Anyway

Matt

Hello Matt!

For me, Ativan takes about 2 hours to reach maximum effect. It lasts about 8 hours. I take 3mg when required. Low doses didn't work. I find it causes less drowsiness than Valium.

I've only taken Xanax a couple of times. It wasn't euphoric at all, it made me very drowsy. I wasn't that impressed. The peak effect occured after about 1 hour and lasted a few hours.

Ed.

I agree with Ed loo%. It's been the same for me. Klonopin does not "relax" me Valium used to. I have some here, but I'm too chicken to go against the pdoc and try it again. Phillipa
