Temazapam (Restoril) question

Posted by CrazyCO on December 31, 2004, at 13:19:25

Has anyone here ever taken Temazapam for sleep, and if so was it very helpful. I have had problems with sleep for as long as I can remember and the only thing that was ever consistently beneficial was Ambien, only my insurance no longer covers it, and I can't afford it along with my other meds, so I'm trying temaazapam.

I have used it for years, and it still works. Ambien didn't do diddly for me, though. You'll just have to give it a go, and see.

I started out at 15 mg, and now routinely use 30 mg every night. There was a bit of a tolerance thing, but it levelled off for me.

It stopped working for me. If it does for you as well, you can try a small dosage of one of the old antipsychotics. I take Nozinan ... I live in Canada so I don't know if you can get it in the U.S. but it's in the same family as Thorazine.

I tried Restoril once to provide a good night's sleep aboard an airplane. I know that this is not a very scientific way of measuring it since an airplane flight can disrupt anyone's sleep mechanism, but I quit using this med after one or two tries. I felt that it did nothing for me at the prescribed dosage. Sorry I can't be of much help.

Re: Temazapam-Tolerance Develops Quickly

I have taken temazepem, frequently while flying, as it wears off after about 4 hours. It is a great sedative-hypnotic at 30-60 mg, but I develop tolerance very quickly to this benzodiazepine. 60 mg will give you euphoria once the tolerance sets in. I have not developed the tolerance problems with Librium and Valium.
