I must apologize because I'm sure this has been a topic many times before but I'm not having luck getting what I want via Search. I am BP I, get hypomanic on AD's real easily. I can't take Wellbutrin b/c it supposedly caused a series of seizures. Have tried A LOT of different AD's and they all just blend together at this point. Does anyone have any recommendations re:an AD for a BPI that has few sexual/weight gain side effects? Am on Lexpro now and have both. Thanks!

Lamictal has a reputation of being a good AD for bipolars, without weight gain.
I'm bipolar and take Lamictal (plus a few other meds) plus Depakote, which stabilizes me very well but has resulted in 15 pound weight gain.

If you are in Europe or Canada (or willing to order from there), you might consider the AD moclobemide. I take it mostly to prevent migraines. It has no anti-sex or fattening effects for me, and PubMed papers suggest that is the case for most people.
