I know a lot of you have done extensive research into the chemical effects of medications and what happens when you take certain ones.....I've done some research, but I have a hard time comprehending the chemistry? behind them, or what they really do to my brain, or what would be good to do to my brain (if that makes any sense). Anyway, my question is: Why do I feel great when I miss a dose of my AD(s)? It's only if I miss an AD (I take Trileptal and Clonazepam too) or if I'm quite a few hours late taking it. I recently went on a drug holiday (at least from the AD(s) and Trileptal) and it wasn't too pleasant, but I missed a dose of Lexapro yesterday and I felt like er like I should feel. It has happened when I miss a dose of Wellbutrin too. From my limited understanding of mechanisms of AD's I believe that my problem is more dopamine? than serotonin, but I am always happier if I forget or run out. I want to know why I feel great when I miss a dose, and if I can recreate this somehow? I'm living at a moderate depression most of the time and well, it sucks. My diagnosis is Bipolar II (although technically it's III because an AD brought it out) and any hypomania I've had has "presented as" a lot of anxiety, and probably "dysphoric". I'm on Synthroid, Wellbutrin (Buproprian 50 mg), Lexapro (5mg, started a week and a half ago), Clonazepam (.5 mg) and Trileptal (recently upped to 900mg). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I used to post here a year or two ago and I check in every so often, so sorry if it seems like I'm barging in or something.
P.P.S. Thanks to Dr. Bob for a wonderful site.

thats the best advice. If you do it more often the half life will depleat too much. Once in a while and its a treat. My doctor suggest this.

But how does missing a dose make you feel better? Surely it would make you feel worse wouldn't it?
(ps: I notice that I feel better too if I miss a dose, I just don't understand it!)

It deminishes side-effects, for a day. Your head is still in the right space. It can also have the opposite effect. Like for a drug you are realy dependant on. I have had one med that depending on what is going on in my head it can have either effect.
