I am thinking of taking Nardil, but am really scared about the potential for weight gain. I am already too heavy and am worried that Nardil will jack up my weight even more.
Any suggestions to deal with the potential for weight gain on Nardil?
(p.s. I've already been on Parnate)

Hi Dan, I'm about to start Nardil also.
I'm nervous about the side effects also, but I guess the best way to look at it is that you aren't *guaranteed* ANY of them. Statistically, the odds are that you wont gain weight, although the amount of anecdotes make it appear inevitable. I wouldn't worry to much about it until it happens (says me, shaking with fear). Personally I'm more worried about the sexual side effects, but I'll guess we'll wait and see.

> (p.s. I've already been on Parnate)Yeah I was skinny before starting Nardil, about 170 pounds. I gained about 25.... then lost 10. Once you start to notice yourself eating more try to replace bad foods with good foods. I really had a craving for sweets so instead I would eat those yellow apples which are sweet tasting. I also found diet mountain dew satisfies my craving. The sexual side effects at first can be scary but luckily mine went away. It still takes me longer to reach orgasm though. If I lower my dosage from 75mg to 60mg it is alot easier for me to orgasm. But the effects aren't as good on my depression and anxiety..........

There is that possibility, but it is nothing like Zyprexa. Nardil rules so much that I didn't even care about the weight gain.

After several months of experimentation and reading about various diets, I finally managed to eliminate carbohydrate cravings and minimize food cravings on Nardil by following an ultra low carbohydrate diet: 15 grams of carbohydrate per day (from nuts). I eat roughly 4 oz. of protein, three times a day. The majority of my calories come from fat. With this regimen, I have absolutely no craving for carbohydrates. Cravings for food occasionally still occur, but I can satisfy them with a snack of nuts and fat, with no measurable impact on my weight. I do a moderate amount of exercise (walking, Tai chi) every day. I have a sedentary job. My weight has stayed constant for a year on Nardil, following this strict regimen.
