Molindone (Moban) and weight loss

Posted by ed_uk on December 8, 2004, at 11:50:05

Hi,

The antipsychotic molindone (Moban) has been associated with weight loss in some patients. Weight gain has been reported less frequently. Anyway, molindone does seem less likely to cause weight gain than most APs. Has anyone ever taken Moban and lost weight? ... or maybe gained weight! Weight gain is a major problem for many people who take APs, especially Zyprexa!

Regards,
Ed.

Sorry this isn't related to Moban, but I have lost maybe ten or fifteen pounds while taking Geodon for about six months. This is alot for me because I am 6'1" and now weigh about 160lbs. I seem to have lost alot of my muscle tone too. Both of these combined isn't a good thing because I really don't look healthy. I look extremely skinny. I have heard though that alot of the older conventional AP's do cause weight loss, but I'm not sure if Moban was one of those. I'm sure your doctor might know.
