Just got back from the Pdoc with Strattera samples. I'm flipping through the booklet as I usually do and notice that it only lasts five hours or so. This seems kinda strange because I was only Rx'd one pill a day in the mornings. There is no sign of anything about time release on the bottles either. Does all Strattera come as a time release or the Dr. screw up? Being sane just until after lunchtime doesn't sound too appealing :-)

All Stratterra dosages are an immediate release formulation. The active metabolite has a half-life a little longer at about 9 hrs (if memory serves me right). When I'm taking it, it definitely seems to have a "working" time of about 8 hrs (a day at work or school, ie.) You might ask your doctor about taking two dosages (first thing am, then 8 hrs. later). This med would be a good candidate for an enteric coated extended release formulation, IMO. It can be a little harsh on your stomach.

ur right about the length of effect....It started wearing off about 7 or 8 hours after the dose :-( It made me kind of a zombie, but I wasn't really tired either. Low doses of amphetamines do the same thing. While it was still working it was great. My mind was almost clear which really feels foreign to me nowdays.
This is the end of the thread.
