Am I feeling the Lamictal THIS soon?

Posted by becksA on November 9, 2004, at 14:35:09

I started Lamictal 2 weeks ago...but at a VERY slowly increasing pace. I started at 1/2 of the 25mg pills (17.5mg) every other day. That was the first week. Second week, I moved to a half pill EVERY day. Starting this saturday I'm moving to whole 25mg pills every day. So basically I've been on it almost 2 weeks, and am still in the phase of 17.5mg daily. I know this is a VERY low dose compared to what some take, but I seem to feel as if some of my depression has been lifted just a bit.
Could this be possible or am I just imagining it?

Thanks

The professionals will tell you that it usually takes @ two months to feel the full efffect of your meds. They will also say that this will vary from person to person.

If you feel better, LET yourself feel better!
I, for one, am glad that you do...

BTW, go to Relationships...we're dying to hear from you!

Maybe it is working?!?!? I say don't fight the feeling! Go with it! I just started Lamictal 2 weeks ago as well though I started on 25 mgs. I am not sure I can say I am feeling the depression lift but I feel like something is happening. Or, actually, somedays I feel something is happening and somedays I feel it isn't. The depression has been so severe though. And since it takes 5 weeks or more to get to the thereputic level of Lamictal (starting from 25 mgs) that my pdoc started me on Lexepro yesterday in addition to the Topamax & Lamictal I already take. I'm nervous about the Lexapro because I'm afraid of another dysphoric hypomania but I hope something works to alleviate the depression soon. I can't take much more of this! I hope your 17.5 is working! Keep us posted.

I felt the effects right away and it lasted for a year...pooped out eventually but I'm sure if someone offered me another depression-free year I wouldn't be turning it down.
