Strattera or other NRI and anxiety?

Posted by Reefer on October 30, 2004, at 16:59:26

I was wondering if anyone is taking Strattera(atomoxetine) or Edronax(reboxetine) in combination with an SSRI. If so does the extra noradrenaline lessen anxiety for you? Does it make you more alert and less tired? Other positive or negative reactions?

I have taken and SSRI (zoloft) for 5 years. I have just recently begun cutting it down, and a few days ago, I added strattera. I was told it would take 3-6 weeks to notice any positive effect from the strattera (I started at 25 and I was told the target dose is 80). I have not noticed any change as far as anxiety, but I have been feeling a little more tired lately, but that is probably from cutting-down the zoloft. I will be doubling the dose of strattera starting wednesday, so I will probably be able to tell you more then.

Sorry I don't have too much info, but I hope that was somewhat helpful. Feel free to babblemail me if you want.

Best of luck!

I take lofepramine (a tricyclic antidepressant which is an NRI) in combination with an SSRI. It doesn't make me less tired but it does make me less depressed. The lofepramine possibly reduces my anxiety slightly.

Okay, i'm probably gonna try and add Edronax (Reboxetine) to my Lexapro and Concerta. Xanax XR really takes away all my anxiety at doses 4 mg+ but my doc wont go any higher than 2 mg so i'm gonna switch to Klonopin soon and try and taper off slowly. If that doesn't work i guess i'll have to find a doc that isn't afriad of benzos.

I've just started Reboxetine at 8mg/day. Will keep posted on the results.

I do. I take Strattera (120 mg) with Lexapro (30 mg) every day. The Strattera has lessened my anxiety. It also helps me with concentration. I have been feeling pretty good.

I have felt more tired since adding Strattera about 6 months a go, but I have successfully treated that side effect with caffeine. I take 1 or 2 NoDoze pills every morning. Each pill has 200 mg caffeine. (I don't like coffee.)
