Hi, I take a low dose of prozac (20mg) and am wondering if it is that or the 250mg of lamictal I am taking that is causing some sexual side effects. I am just trying to figure out the culprit...
thanks

i started on lamictal without anything else at first. when it was just the lamictal my sex drive revved at a higher rpm than in a long time.
then i added cymbalta and the engine died.

>Hi Sandy,
Is the sexual side effect anorgasmia? This is a common side effect of SSRI's such as Prozac & is basically the inability to reach orgasm. It also affects both men & women.
Cheers,
Paul.

At the very beginning I had some anorgasma, but have no problem now, it just took some adjusting to the medication.

>It's the same for guys, so much so that SSRI's are getting prescribed as treatment of premature ejaculation. The cure for is to add another drug the blocks 5-HT2A receptors from getting too much serotonin. Such drugs that are good to add on to SSRI's are other AD's like Nortriptyline, Amitriptyline, Doxepin, Remeron & Trazodone in low doseages. Unfortunately, all these drugs are sedating to varying degrees & you have to get use to the sedation. Other options are Periactin taken an hour of so beforehand or skipping a doseage of SSRI, although this wouldn't work too well with Prozac due to it's extremely long half life.
Cheers,
Paul.
