Hi! My doctor wants to start me on, among other things, topamax. I am schizoaffective. Has anyone, who is currently on topamax, had any problems with driving while on this medicine?

I was fine on it, until about 150 mg. Then I became stupid and would wonder if my driving was stupid as well. I would really have to concentrate really hard to drive and would wonder the entire time if I was driving okay. I switched to Zonegran, which is much the same as Topomax with less side effects and less stupids. I take it for Migraines, but it is still used for Bipolar same as Topomax is.

I had serious problems driving while taking Topomax. I never felt more unable to drive on any other drug than this one. Just my opinion. I now take Zonegran - unbelievable improvement. Good luck with your decision.
