Seroquel dose for depression

Posted by babak on October 13, 2004, at 6:29:49

Since Olanzapine has stopped working I am going to ask my GP to put me on Seroquel.

I know that this is an antipsychotic drug but it has shown to have results with depression as well.

Does anyone know if the dosage is different for depression. If yes what is the usual dosage for treatment of depression?

Thanks
Babak

I don't know how your doc will do dosing, but mine started at 50mgs (you'll need a pill cutter) and worked up to 100mgs for treatment resistant depression, etc. etc. Be ready for some SEDATION, BTW. Seroquel is also being used in low doses as a sleeping pill. Personally, I'd recommend Abilify.

I take 50mg of Seroquel at night for sleep. It's really not that effective as an AD. It is used as an antipsychotic for schitzophrenia, but at MUCH higher doses. I have wonderful sleep on 100mg, but have been experiencing weight gain and suspect the Seroquel, so back down to 50mg.

It also helps me with mood-swings...
