Xanax vs. Klonoptin?

My Doc wants me to switch from Xanax to Klonoptin. Does anyone have any advice between the two and preferences?

Hi, I have a few posts on this one already. I too got switched to klonopin after yrs on xanax. Even though I went immediatly to klonopin, I had some bad withdrawl symptoms. I got depressed, I cried for no reason, i have headaches, lethargy, etc. So, after 1 week I told my pdoc I didnt like the klon. so she switched me to ativan. I didnt like that either (did nothing for me) so finally after about 3 wks. I am taking the klonopin again and feel better. I think that once you get over the xanax withdrawl, klonopin seems okay.
Thats my opinion..

xanax vs klonopin

Hey! Both of them are some of the most potent benzos available...ever notice how xanax comes in 2mg tabs while valium goes up to 10? BUT they were developed for different reasons. Xanax was designed for anxiety, particularly panic attacks. Klonopin was developed for epilepsy (its works well on that too). Also, dosing is different. Klonopin is taken 2, sometimes 3X a day...xanax is more of an "as needed" drug. Another problem: docs underprescribe. They're miserly with the benzos, which probably contributed to your problem.
