Anyone ever take welbutrin for panic disorder and have success? I realize it is not indicated for that but curious because of sexual side fx from lexapro.

I don't think it's as effective as tricyclics or MAOIs for panic disorder. In "Essential Psychopharmacology", Stahl states "Bupropion, however, does not seem to have apparent antipanic actions." I have social phobia with some panic disorder elements and did not find Wellbutrin as helpful as either tricyclics or MAOIs, but it did have some positive effects, but probably more for the social phobia part of my problem.

I'm more likely to get panic from wellbutrin. At lunch time some times I get full blown panic attacks. This problem was not so bad as when I didn't take the wellbutrin. Infact the only time I had panic was when I stoped all my meds.

Wellbutrin caused panic attacks for me (and I just had general anxiety disorder, not panic attacks). Don't know what it would do for a person who already has PA's.
