Lamictal drowsiness

Can the drowsiness due to Lamictal (I think) go away with time ? I'm taking only 50 mg now.

Thanks

I take my lamictal at night. 200mg. That way I am not sleepy from it during the day...

Gosh, I don't recall what my doc said about when to take it. Looked back at my visit notes and don't find anything. I don't suppose it would hurt to change to PM dose. I have the sample pack and I'm going up in dose "low and
slow."

Thanks

I found that the drowsiness went away with time. Lamictal has a 25 hour half life, so if you take it at night, you will still keep it in your system for the day. If you stay up late, you will be asleep and not feel any withdrawl. I am pretty good about taking it as soon as I get up, but I can definately tell if it has been 25+. I am debating the night...

I was taking 400 in the morning and found if I PM dose it, I was awake more duign the day.

I've recently learned that when I take 100 at night and 100 during the day, it works as good as the 400 at night.

I am slowly weaning myself off lamictal over a period of about 6 months. For some reason I have to taper off this really slow or else I become extremely fatigued.

Do you mind if I ask why you are tapering off Lamictal? I've always been curious why so many on this group are seemingly stopping their meds..

I was on Parnate for 14 years until I was incorrectly taken off of it by a cardiologist.

thanks

Hi I am currently on Cymbalta. I think I have dysthymia/GAD. I am curious about Parnate as I am tired of SSRI/SNRI side effects.

Did you have to maintain a strict diet on Parnate? What were the side effects?

Thanks

The diet wasn't so bad for me since I didn't eat any aged or fermented foods anyway due to mold/yeast sensitivities. Also, wasn't that hard for me to give up foods like bananas and figs, etc... due to their high tyramine content.

The biggest side effects I had from Parnate were orthostatic hypotension (managed with 10 mg Reglan x 2 /day) and a "sweet tooth." I slowly gained about 30 pounds on Parnate then leveled off.
