I am currently taking Adderall, wellbutrin, and Xanax. I am leaving temporarily to help coordinate the repairs in florida. Could range from 3 to 6 months. Anyone had a similar experience? Did the doc write one prescription that would cover the whole duration? Do I need to find a temp doc in florida? I suppose I could just wait and ask the pdoc... but I was just curious if anyone else has had anything similar. Thanks!
Matt

the prescriptions here in az are good for one year from the date the doctor writes it. Don't know if that is the same everywhere. Assuming it is, if you had your doctor write you an rx for a three month supply of your drugs with three refills at the same you would have a years worth of meds on one rx. You could take the original rx paper with you, which you might prefer to do if there are insurance coverage issues.
Another option is if you use Walgreens or another drugstore that is linked by computers. So if you are in Florida, they can just access your prescriptions from wherever your hometown is and fill them for you in Florida. Does that make sense? Ideally it should be the same chain drugstore in each town...a Walgreens to Walgreens or x to x.

I travel for a living, new town every day, some times for 3-4 months at a time. I make it a point to call around to the national chains, see who is the cheapest as their prices can be way different (I don't have insurance). If you have insurance, most will not allow you to get more than one month at a time. Make sure you know where your closest Walgreens, etc is, and never wait until the last min to refil. They will move your prescription three times - that means three different locations.
I have an agreement with my pdoc that I must see her once a quarter. If that means I see her in Jan and then in June, that counts, but not really. I check in with her periodically, and if she thinks we need to do a phoner, than we do.
My biggest problem is that I have been changing meds more than my underwear, which means each rx has no refills. She is very gracious to call in anywhere I need it.
Good luck!

My doctor always gives me a year supple of meds in one prescription. 90 day supply, with 3 refills. Any pharmacy will do it.
