I hear that rem sleep is very important to the learning process, I also hear that an AD doesn't work usually unless it inihibits rem sleep.
What's your take, is sleep good or bad.

Along with hardly sleeping at all, rem sleep leaves me in a constant state of exhaustion. It's as if my mind and body simply do not shut down enough to get any rest.
I prefer the kind of sleep only strong drugs can provide. And I don't even take any.

Too much REM sleep is bad ... you should have both deep sleep (I forget the technicle name) with a few periods of REM. Depressed people tend to skip the deep sleep and have longer periods of REM. Quality sleep is more important than quantity.

Not sure if this is exactly related, but can't find a better thread...
I just started on Effexor last week. So far, I have been sleeping GREAT. For a long time, I had been all tense and clenching my jaw in my sleep so I would wake up never refreshed and with a sore neck and face. I would also get out of bed as soon as I woke up because I couldn't stay still.
However, now that I am sleeping better, i find it is very hard to get up in the morning. Do you think this is the Effexor making me sleep well like I should or too deeply? I sort of feel like around 10pm the "high" of effexor wears off and I just crash until my alarm goes off. I live right by a train and it used to wake me up at 2am...not anymore. I feel really tired until I get up and take my pill, then an hour later i feel great again.
I just don't know what is normal sleep anymore!
This is the end of the thread.
