I have been taking ativan for a week now. Its not helping anxiety, prob. bc of the low dose I have been given. I am wondering if say, 0.5mg of klonopin would be equar to .5mg of xanax. Pdoc took me off xanax. which i have been on for years. i was taking 3 mg of klonopin daily, but that mad me sort of depressed. Maybe I was taking too high a dose? Anyone?
Sandy--thanks!!!

Is it possible that the depression would pass? How long were you taking it that it made you feel more depressed?

Strangely enough, it made me more depressed for the first day or two. It was a somewhat different feeling than my usual depression, so I'm pretty sure that it was due to the Ativan. However, this effect dissipated and I was able to continue with it.

If memory serves you went from 3mg of Klon to 1.5 of Ativan. The conversion rate, I believe, is .5 of Klon to 1 mg of Ativan. No wonder you are having anxiety. They just cut your dose 150%. THere is a conversion rate somewhere on this site. Hunt it down and show your doc, although they should know anyways. At 3 mg of Klon, you should be on 6mg of Ativan. Sometimes doctors amaze me.

Hi there...Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you can cut a dose by 150%. I rarely foray into numbers, but I'm almost certain that if you cut someone's dose by 100%, you've cut it all. Am I missing something here?

Elsewhere on here, I suggested something similar, but with the personal opinion that it may take 2 mg of Ativan to equal 0.5 mg of Xanax. Ativan leaves the body much quicker than Xanax, so more frequent dosing is needed.
