Would those of you who have been taking Cymbalta please report on any side effects you may be experiencing from this drug. Have any of the side effects decreased over time. I have just started with 20 mgs of Cymbalta per day and so far it's been a total sexual wipeout.

That is bad news for me. The only reason I discontinued Effexor XR was the sexual side effects. When/if I try Cymbalta, I hope to find that it works as well as Effexor without killing sex.

really bad sexual dysfunction, and some insomnia.
I've been thinking about stopping, I didn't take it today.

After 4 days on 30mgs, I still feel like I want to hurl about 12 hours out of the day. I'm taking it in conjunction with Wellbutrin and Dexidrine, so sexual side effects haven't been a problem. Feeling like I'm constantly going to vomit doesn't really make me that randy though.

My side effects from Cymbalta are listed below, howevr I think one needs to give a new med 6-8 weeks to be effective and my experience is that frist one gets the side effects that most of the time (Not all the time but most of the time) go away and then the benefits start.
For me, the only side effects that remained on Zoloft were weight gain and sexual side effects. The weight gain on Zoloft started with a gradual weight gain of 1-2#s per month after 6 months and the sexual side affects went from no libido / no ability to low libido / no problem with ability after about 6 months. ALl of my other side effects from Zoloft went away after 2 months.
Here is my side effect profile from 12 days on Cymbalta.
Day 12
Cymbalta at 30 mg (need to decide whether to raise to 60 mg).
Zoloft at 0MG (Day 3 of no zoloft)
Benefits:
So far depression / anxiety is no problem (under control as it was under the zoloft for the last few years.Side Effects -
Libido:
Even less libido than when on 100MG zoloft although ability not affected at all. This will likely pass if it is like other ADs for me.Weight Gain:
No change in baseline. Waiting to see what happens once I am off ZOloft for 2 weeks (hoping to start seeing a gradual weight reduction.Somnolonce (Day Time Tiredeness) occassionally need a nap but not every day.
Constipation / Darrahae - seems to have passed.
Headache - New Side Effect - started yesteray all day, then woke up with headache again. Aspirin seems to help somewhat.
Mental processes are fine - in fact seem somewhat enhanced.
Thats all for now.

After taking cymbalta for a week at 30mgs per day, the insomnia is lessening but I'm now experiencing severe sexual side effects. Worse than any other AD or drug I've tried.
I may ask that the dose be reduced to 20mgs per day and live with it but I didn't take it at all yesterday.
Side effects aside, I like the way cymbalta makes me feel. Why didn't they make a wider range of doses? There's not much choice.

Cymbalta side effects. I always take Cymbalta with some high fiber food, like a high fiber cereal, and have no stomach upset.
Sex drive wise, I wouldn't say its effected.
It does make getting to sleep a little tougher, and then there is the occasional nap during the middle of the day.
Overall, its not prohedonic or prosicial however, but it is definitely an anti-depressant.
This is the end of the thread.
