I take a 2mg tab of XanaxXR once a day every morning
The XanaxXR.com website says that taking a 2mg tab of XanaxXR once a day is the same as taking a .5mg tab of regular Xanax four times a day
Does that mean that when I take a 2mg tab of XanaxXR once a day every morning that I then have throughout the day a steady level of .5mg or 2mg of Xanax working therapeutically in my system?

They say that is the case, but if I were you I might consider splitting it up into half the dose twice daily instead of once. I find that it slowly wears off in the afternoon.

I would have your doc prescribe you 1mg BID, because if you take 2mg once daily in the morning, you'll find it wearing off late afternnon. DO NOT TRY AND SPLIT YOUR 2mg XR PILLS IN HALF OR YOU WILL LOSE THE EXTENDED RELEASE!
I took a 1mg pill twice daily, 7:00am and 7:00pm and it worked beautifully.
The only downside is cost because for a months supply you'll be filling sixty 1mg pills versus thirty 2mg pills, but it works much better, no peaks and valleys.

I tried the xanax xr too. (2mg) and I stopped because It made me tired all day and because if it did start wearing off or a stressful event was taking place, I couldnt just "pop" a pill since it was time released, I only had 1 a day. Anyway, I asked my pdoc to put me back on the regular 1mg pills. (i take 1/2 morning, afternoon and a whole one to sleep at night) and it works better. Plus, I can get generic!!!
