hold on a sec...please. There are a ton of med combos and most likely one that works for you. If one med doesn't work...there are great chances a mixture of them will, and please believe me...you *will* and *can* feel better. Please take a chance with this, maybe start by finding a better doctor, or *demanding* you get a chance at many good options. It is your right. This is not b.s., I may not be able to totally feel what you are thinking, and I am not going to pretend to, but I've walked a good part of my life with the fangs of the black dog at my throat as well. I mean this sincerely...

Hi,
I used to respond really well to paxil 20mg years ago but tried it again and it didn't work. Anyway after two years of trying almost everything else I went back onto 40mg and it seems to be helping me, don't get me wrong it's not working half as well as it did about 8 years ago at only 20mg but at least the awful anxiety and suicidal feelings are gone.
How much did you try taking?

Hi Denise...
I'm on 30mg..I seem to be getting more depressed the only ssri left to try is fluoxmine (sp) usually used for obsessive disorder or zispin.
I'm sleeping as much as possible to escape.

Slinky,
Maybe you should go up to 40 or even 60 (I think you can go up to 60), 30 does nothing for me either but 40 seems to, I admit I still sleep a lot on 40mg but the awful anxiety (suicidal cravings) are no longer there and they were with 20 and 30mg.

The doc may raise the dosage..I have rapid cycling bipolar ( questionable) so he may be afraid to raise the dose as I'm getting agitated abit and i find it gives me itchy skin without a rash.
I don't know..initally it was good for unwanted thoughts quietened my head but as expected this lasts approx 2 weeks.
Socially its not working I have to push myself to go to the shop and I must appear really miserable and angry..another problem is I'm thinking of booze more..
Thanks for listening.

You may need a dopamine agonist of some kind, combined with Paxil and/or a different SSRI.
When I was on Paxil I became a heavy drinker, but when I went off Paxil I lost the urge to drink alcohol and haven't drank in 2 1/2 years. I think there is a connection with Paxil causing an urge to consume alcohol.
