Help. I just had a baby 4 months ago, and have suffered from depression. after many failed attempts at ssri's I am trying lamictal for possible BP2. I work out 5 days a week and eat a diet my trainer has put me on for six weeks. I have horrible water retention ( wake up with swollen fingers) and yawn all day long). I'm still ramping up on Lamictal. I can't get the scale to budge, even my trainer is mistified. (thyroid is normal).

You may want to talk to your pdoc about putting you on Topamax. It's another mood stabilizer but it's the only one known to guarantee weight loss. I lost 25 pounds on it. The only question may be will it be an effective mood stabilizer for you.
Good luck!

i was so excited to start on lamictal because i understood it didn't have the weight gain issues my ssri's had previously. at first i lost about 5 pounds...which i attributed not to the lamictal but to not being on an ssri. now i am gaining back the 5 pounds and find myself ravenous again as i was on the ssri's. badddd. it started when i hit about 325mg lamictal. maybe it's not so at a lower dose.
