Hi everyone,
Need a new pdoc. Have for quite some time.
Looked for over a year in Pittsburgh where I am from and had no luck.I was considering this Dr Ivan Goldberg. I have relatives in New York. Not sure about him. Have yet to inquire price.
Anyone have an opinion or other suggestions?
I am willing to travel. Depending on location I can travel by car or if I know someone around the pod to stay with that is another option if the doc will do phone appointments some of the time.
Right now I am basically deciding what and how much meds to take and the pdoc just writes a script. I need more support than this. I also need someone with knowledge to share.
Thanks,
irene

Irene,
I say absolutely go for it. I haven't seen Dr. Goldberg but would if the situation warranted. I stayed with old PDOC way too long...young, just out of school, very inexperienced and cautious. I got fed up, did extensive research, and went for consultations with four PDOCs. I am happy with my current PDOC - Yale grad, worked at NIMH, 30 yrs. exp. I wish I had changed much sooner. Neither he nor my 1st PDOC was covered by my insurance, but guess what, I pay less to see him than I did her!In sum, Go for it!
PS. You could get a consult from Dr. Goldberg and then get a PDOC closer to home to help manager meds and confer w/ Dr. Goldberg on an as needed basis.

I've tried private sector health care and changed to academia. You might want to consider the University Pennsylvania behavioral health care system.
The disadvantage for you is it's 3 1/2 hours drive. However search for an academia that is closer to you if you don't want to make this drive.
I searched the nation for various studys because I wanted cutting edge treatment. I recall this group has a clinical study going on right now.]
A disadvantage of this study for you if approved would be your visits. I presume you would have to visit them minimum one time a week.
Hoever the advantage is your treatment would be potentially 5 times faster due to increased freqiency visits.
I enclosed the web site.
