Never Say Never

I was dx'd 12 years ago as being bipolar. This is AFTER I took 40mg Prozac for two weeks for 'Major Depression'. I wound up in the hospital after driving for two hours around the city not knowing where I was going or where I was. It's a miracle I didn't crash...I was like a driving zombie. Over the years I've gone through all the ssri's and wellbutrin combined with all the mood stabilzers separately. I would say I've been 'moderately depressed' even with all the various medications I've tried. At least they kept me from being severely depressed. I NEVER thought I'd ever be able to actually ENJOY life again. Many doctors in various cities have said, " There's nothing else we can do for you." I couldn't tolerate the older antidepressants and after trying one it was useless as far as I was concerned. Three weeks ago I finally improved greatly. I said to the Doc, " How about us trying prozac again"(even though various previous attempts have failed).
Together with 600mg Lithium, 150mg lamictal and 150mg wellbutrin XL combined , the 20mg of prozac finally worked! If anyone out there has not retried failed attempts of ssri's without augmenting with wellbutrin AND COMBINING 2 or 3 mood stablizers should mentally retrack everything they've previously tried... and COMBINATIONS they have not yet tried.I'm hoping if increasing the prozac to 30gms or 40gms at the next appointment will yield even more improvement. :)NEVER GIVE UP!:))))))))))...side effects are next to nil.

Oh, I am so glad that you are getting results from this cocktail of meds. Thanks for sharing this.
