My dr. put me on Effexor in Feb for serious depression. After a few months the emotional thing was better, but my fibromyalgia was worse. I was feeling worse and worse, but he kept increasing the dosage. Two visits ago he told me to double my dosage again, and being the obedient patient I said sure and proceeded to do so. Hideous miscommunication! Really his fault, because he never specified what mg he meant, but I didn't ask either, so a hard lesson learned. The upshot is that for a month I was taking 600 mg (yes, that is a six followed by two zeros) every day all at once. It's a miracle I didn't have a seizure or something.
So now I'm weaning, and today was my last day for the 37.5 capsule. I still have a few, and I think I'll have to go to taking one every other day, then one every two days, etc. The head zaps are really bad, but I'm trying to drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fruit in the hope it will help flush it out of my system. Maybe it won't, but my gut feeling is that it will, and I'm trusting my gut feeling a little more now. If I had trusted it sooner, I would have gotten off that crap months ago.
Speaking of crap, not to be disgusting or graphic, you have no idea how good life is now that I can once again, well, you know......

Nahhh, it was his fault, but I should have been a better "consumer." He does have signs posted saying "Please bring all meds with you on office visits." If I had done that, no problem. He did have a deer-in-the-headlights look when I told him I was already taking 300mg when he said to double it. He misread the chart and thought I was taking 150mg.
How's it going? Not as bad as it could, I guess, from reading other withdrawal posts. The zapping is driving me crazy, but I think I've felt so bad for so long, it's just another day in paradise for me. <G> At least I'm interested in things again, like actually talking to people!> sheeeeesh i would sue him... glad your nearly off hows things?
