LITHIUM - Take all at once? Help.

Hi,
My pdoc just increased my Lithium dose from 900 mg. to 1250 mg. He said to take 1 450 mg. tablet 3x a day (morning, noon, night).

I tried this, however, I feel very drowsy after taking each Lithium dose. This makes it difficult to care for my 2 young children. Would it be okay to take all 1250 mg. before bed? It is the "Eskalith" Lithium -- so it is kind of a sustained release.

Hi:
In my knowledge, ... yes, some folks taking *All* psycho.med. just 'once' a day, ... before going to the bed. Some people doing this, even 4 different psycho. meds. before the bed in order to avoid any 'nasty' S.E. s from taking med. comb. However, for me, ... it's very 'scary,' whether I am *able* to 'wake-up' in normal/physical healthy state. I never did nor do those 'risky/acrobat' med. regimen.

However, in your case, ... just 'Lithium' alone, then you could do this, ... all at once before going to the bed. That said, you may need your pdoc.'s permission before jumping into 'conclusion,' taking 1250 mg. before the bed. Because, if you're a med. sensitive individual, ... then it may NOT work this out.

I too, taking a 900 mg. Lithium divided three times a day. Some saying that Lithium has some 'toxicity,' for this reason we, Lithium takers need a lot of liquied to qunech thirst, and plus in order to 'wash-out' those toxicities.

I can not offer 'good' advice on this regard, even I've been on Lithium for more than five years.
