I am possibly thinking about trying lofepramine, but can find very little information about its effects.
Any one who's taken it, I'd love to hear what its like!

Lofepramine is what is called a prodrug, that is, a drug precursor. In this case, the drug that the body metabolizes it into is desipramine, which is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor with relatively low side effects for a tricyclic. I've taken desipramine myself and rate it as one of the two best ADs I've taken, but IMO, it is not a great choice for someone who already has anxiety problems. My anxiety levels nowadays are only average, and I have actually never even taken a benzo for anxiety (there were times in the past when I could have used one, though), but I found that desipramine significantly boosted my anxiety when I first started taking it. That be said, I did get used to it after a while, but it took a month or more. I find desipramine to be rather activating and uplifting, as well as being helpful on a cognitive/concentration level.Todd
