Hi SLS and Panda. I just came here bc I heard that Bipolar disease is the best ansered here. KaraS told me to make a post to SLS and Panda bc you know the most. My doctor gave me Depacote and Ritalin and I read on a Website that Depacote makes you really tired and Ritalin makes you be wide-awake. So my question is do they cancel each other out? I have a lot of energy and nervusness and sometimes I sleep like 10 hours or sometimes I sleep hardly any. Can SLS or Panda please help?

Hi FZ.Welcome!
:-) <smile>
What are you being treated for?
Bipolar + ADD or bipolar only and the Ritalin is being used to offset the sedation produced by the Depakote?

>Hi FZ,
As Scott says, we would like to know what your ailment is. Are these drugs giving you problems?
Cheers,

http://www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/bipolar.cfm
that's a site with some pretty good descriptions into bipolar disorder. i can't answer your questions because i've never heard of ritalin being prescribed for it, that just seems odd to me. (besides, it'll just get redirected to the med board anyway).
when i'm depressed, i used to sleep a LOT (now i'm too stressed to sleep), but when i'm manic, i can go for days on just a few hours of sleep each night, or i just don't want to sleep. but there's far more to bipolar than sleep schedules and patterns.
good luck!!
