Wow! I think you mean micrograms, not milligrams. 50 micrograms seems like a huge dose to me. I take 5 mcg., along with 0,5 mg. (50 mcg.) of synthroid. This gives me a TSH of 0.4 to 0.5, whereas if I stop treatment, the TSH reverts to about 5. Are you having your TSH tested on a regular basis? If you aren't, I think you should. A therapeutic level for TSH in the treatment of depression would be about 0.5, or a bit less, to 1 or 2, but you don't want to go lower than that. Glad it's helping, though! I haven't heard of anyone else using just Cytomel so successfully.

Just a quick side-track, I am about to begin using transdermal T3 cream for an experimental therapy unrelated to thyroid. Could anyone tell me what symptoms to look for in the event of too much T3?

Since you are using the transdermal route, I'm assuming that you aren't going to get excessive amounts of Cytomel in your system. The only side effect I know of from taking enough thyroid supplements to make your TSH very low would be osteoporosis. It doesn't cause jitteriness the way hyperthyroidism does. You'd be completely safe if you had your TSH checked occasionally during treatment, and made sure that it was between 0,5 and 2. I'm curious to know what this experimental treatment is for, but I'm not asking, as I am aware that you did not volunteer that information.

Some people with fibromyalgia and chronic myofascial pain who have had traumatic injury develop "geloid masses" over their muscles and trigger points. T3 mediates the masses. Incidentally, I tried the transdermal T3 last night for the first time, and woke up with sweat pouring out of the top and back of my head. Would you have any explanation for that? Will talk to the doctor tomorrow.
