Hello All!
Can anyone please tell me if Provigil takes affect right away or does it need to build up in your system? If it needs to build up, do you have any kind of time frame?

I feel the effects are more pronounced the first couple of weeks especially in relation to mood and the mild euphoria.
Otherwise, eventually it just works in the background because it primarily keeps you awake, and if you are already awake you might wonder if the drug is being of any use. Not until you hit your low energy periods of the day or are extending yourself in concentration will you realize its therapeutic effect.
On the other hand, some people are just aware of its effect every second of its therapeutic window. I would consider them the more sensitive people or maybe they take a potent dose relative to themselves.
I take 100mg a day which is modest.

I think I was on a low dose, some sample my doc and I decided to try, but for me, yes- it took effect immediately (or so it seemed) and then I was awake for about 4 or 5 days. And I don't mean awake in a speedy or euphoric way- just AWAKE....more awake than I ever want to be again!
Not saying it's a bad med, just making it clear that I felt it right away (and it was not right for me, obviously.)
For what it's worth, that's my experience.

Thanks to both of you for your response. I literally felt nothing the first three days (still wanted to go to bed a noon and stay there until the next day). I was a bit concerened that it just wasn't going to help at all.

Anyhow, it's not like methamphetamine where you have no chance of falling asleep whatsoever. I can fall asleep on Provigil at any moment, and I am not a narcoleptic.
You may find that it will enhance your mood, attention, and cognition in time.
