Hi, I just saw my pdoc. today. He increased my Lexapro to 60mg for OCD and depression. I was on 20mg for about a year and then was raised to 40mg.
I know this is a pretty high dose and was wondering if anyone else had any success or side effects on hiher doses of Lexapro.I have also been taking 4mg of Klonopin 2mg in the morning and 2mg at bedtime for anxiety for several years now. But I have heard and read horror stories about people who become addicted and withdraw severely from this medication. The med works wonders for my anxiety and I never take more than I am suppose to. So, I was wondering am I setting myself up for a future disaster by taking the Klonopin daily.
My pdoc. is very respected in my area. He has been in practice a long time and even has buildings named after him throught the city. So, I trust his judement. But I was just curious as to what others who take these meds and have the same conditions I do has to say.
Thanks to anyone who responds to this post.

I do not take klopn, currently at 30mg lex. Have seen post where people say they are taking 40mg. Cletus2 said he was taking 100mg. My pdoc told me I could raise to 40, or higher, if I thought I needed to. I think I would trust the pdoc.~~~8|8

I assume the same doc prescribed both your meds and is following you on both? If you have good followup and use Klonopin as prescribed, chances are you will not have problems. The use of benzo's for anxiety treatment is safe and effective, so long as a few quidelines are followed. I suggest that you do some research on dependence versus addiction and become educated on the difference. That knowledge can help you know if you are starting with an abuse and addiction problem. You stated your Klonopin use has been for a few years. If your dose has been consistent with few increases once you reached a maintance dosing, that's a pretty good sign of approiate use. Should you decide to stop taking Klonopin, you need to wean slowly and have doc's supervision. I took Klonopin for over 2 years and weaned off without real incident and without horrible withdrawal. The reason I returned to this site was to let folks know that Klonopin use does not ALWAYS lead to disaster and there are success stories to the use and discontinuing.
Can't give you any insight on the Lexapro question other than Lexapro is "suppose" to be helpful for anxiety states, so maybe upping your Lex dose may allow you to decrease your Klon dose should you desire that.
