Wow! Just read a million different posts about all the effexsor withdrawal symptoms and I feel SO MUCH BETTER. It confirms that this process is quite normal. I've been having the most intense dizziness ever! Like I'm drunk. "Brain shivers" or whatever they're called--definitely. Also very vivid dreams--more nightmarish and dark than usual. I never remembered my dreams much while I was taking effexsor. Just for the record, I was on effexsor for about 4-5 years before it stopped working for me. But to its credit, effexsor pretty much saved my life and I think it's a great drug for certain people (every SSRI seems to affect everyone very diiferently).
I was extremley depressed with severe panic disorder and within weeks of taking it I felt 100% better. I believe that if a drug works for you, you very well might not need to worry about the withdrawal symptoms because you may never have to stop taking it! Okay--that said, I really appreciate this site!

p.s. My psychiatrist has replaced my Effexsor with Lamictal--a seisure medication that is just now being used to treat manic-depression. So far pretty good.

In reply to Effexsor withdrawal: DIZZYNESS!, posted by dw on July 1, 2004, at 23:31:36
I am beginning month 2 of being Effexor free,
and DIZZINESS seems to be the only "withdrawl side-effect" that is still with me.
The trouble is...DIZZINESS is listed as both a side-effect while ON Effexor...and a WITHDRAWL effect of discontinuing Effexor lol!I will let you know my MY dizziness stops, and if you want, please do the same for Yours..

>Prozac taken temporarily can be used to relieve these withdrawl symptoms & doesn't have with withdrawl side effects of it's own.

Hey Folks,
I just called my psychiatrist this morning about the dizziness because it was getting way too intense and she recommended taking only 10 beads from a capsule and said that should take care of the withdrawal symptoms immediately. She also said that if that didn't work, taking prozac for three weeks would work, like Panda said. So I broke open a capsule, took only 10 little beads and thought no way would this miniscule amount do anything and--low and behold! I swear to god within 1 hour--I felt 85-90% better. Virtually no more dizziness. It was amazing! So---highly recommended! She said to do this for the next three weeks until I was totally weaned off, etc. Incredible, huh? Oh and to the guy who said on or off Effexor he experienced dizziness--interesting. I never experienced any dizziness or side effects at all from taking the drug. Well, I did gain about 35 pounds which I ABOLUTELY HATE! I'm HOPING that my svelt figure will return after I'm off. Hah! :)
This is the end of the thread.
