Beta-blockers are useful for supressing the symptoms of anxiety..i.e. shaking, sweating, racing heart. People can take them before interviews, driving tests etc, to calm these symptoms down. Not sure if they help with blushing tho...probably best to talk to your doc about it.

I would think you would want something a little more heavy duty than a beta blocker for what you are talking about. Beta blockers are used for situational anxiety, such as before giving a speech, and they are not particularly powerful anti-anxiety meds. I have suffered from what you are talking about myself, along with a host of related problems, and I've wound up taking an extremely powerful med to treat it. I would hope you would be able to treat your problem in a less drastic manner, but I would recommend getting into touch with a mental health professional if you have not already done so. This can be done with a referral going through your regular doctor.

Sounds like good advice, but I wouldn't jump the gun by saying off the bat that "you would want something a little more heavy duty". From the info given, it's not so clear that the anxiety krybrahaha is experiencing is truly severe, persistent, and significantly interferes with daily functioning. If not (and hopefully not), maybe this *is* a kind of situational anxiety, in which case something like a beta blocker might be worth trying before looking into the need for heavier duty meds. But, other than cost, it certainly can't *hurt* to consult with a metal health professional for expert assessment.

i'm almost certain that blushing is a sympathetic (and beta-adrenergic) -mediated response and that, consequently, beta-blockers should be at least somewhat helpful (although i'm not sure if daily use would be just as beneficial as "as-needed" use).
