Hi everyone. I've been feeling very crappy lately and I don't know what to do. I've been on and off prozac and this time it's not doing it for me as it used to. It's better than no meds, that's for sure, but not enough I don't think. I don't want to add anything to it though. I don't have anyone to talk to about this stuff except by pdoc-none of my friends have ever experienced chronic depression-only situational, which is quite different. I've also been feeling lots of anxiety lately-which is probably attributed to the fact that I just graduated college and still don't have a job. boohoo
my boyfriend doesn't understand depression at all-he's sweet and kind, but I really think it freaks him out a lot, so we avoid the topic. I dunno...I'm sad..someone please talk to me.monu

Hello Monu,
if it's talkin you're needin come on over to the social board. tell us about yourself and what's going on.
This main board is for all the medical mumbo-jumbo. if it's med info you're needing this is the place.
Babble has lots of great boards, at the very top is the list of different ones. Visit one or all!

It's not all that uncommon to find a particular med doesn't work as well the second time around as it did the first time you tried it. If prozac did do you some good, you might want to talk to your pdoc about other medicines in the same class --SSRIs. Zoloft, celexa, lexapro, and paxil are all in the same family as prozac. Talk to your doctor about maybe switching to one of those. Even though they do work on the same neurotransmitter -- seratonin -- they all work in somewhat different ways, so your response to one is not necessarily going to be similar to your response of another.
