If i'm taking the extended release, isn't that like any other extended release....If I take it before I go to work in the morning shouldnt it stop workin around dinner time or thereabouts?

(By the way, I take 2MG in the morning, but I dont think that should really matter with my question).
PS. Somebody was talking about breaking up the doses in 12 hour incriments, but for now I'm sticking to my pdoc's suggestion. However, the reason I brougnt up the post remember, is that if I take it before work, I want to be sure it still will be working at night when I go out, which to me just doesnt seem possible.

Yes, which is exactly why I passed on the dosing suggestion my doc gave me, 1mg every 12 hours.

So if he prescribed me 2mg once a day, you would suggest 1mg every 12 hours? (this is xanax XR)....I just don't understand why he wouldnt have done the same. Also after you posted that before yesterday I believe, there were a couple people that said to stay on the 2mg at once.
Anyway, when I take 2mg at once, it seems like the perfect dose, maybe not enough, which leads me to believe that being on only half that at any given time wouldnt be nearly enough?.....please comment. thanks!

All I can say about that is not to get too accustomed to xanax regardless of the dose. Most Docs will only prescribe it for a short time. They say it is addictive. I have been taking it for years with no problems but understand many do.
