I have been taking 20mg of Lexapro for over a year now for anxiety, depression, and ocd, but I believe it is losing its effectiveness. I have tried all of the other SSRI's and modified SSRI's including Effexor etc., and I really want to try Lexapro further before giving up (tired of swithcing meds).
From what I have read I believe the max dose for Lexapro is 20mg. However, I have read post and articles of people who take 30mg of Lex. I do not experience any side effects at the current dose.
So, would it be ok to try a 30mg dose before giving up on the med? And if I did increase the dose to 30mg how long would it take to notice a difference? Of course I will discuss this with my pdoc, but I just wanted another opinion. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

My DH takes 20 mg Lex and I take 10 mg of Lex.
we have different doctors and mine says that she expects nothing more out of lex at 10mg for me and will not up the dose-however my DH doctor is willing to up it to 30 at his next visit.I am thinking it depends on the individual med doctor you are seeing personally
