lexapro dosage?

Posted by Biff on May 3, 2004, at 1:24:35

I started on lexapro about 5 months ago with the usual 10mg/day for 1 week, then 20mg/day thereafter. My problem was "functional" depression (my own description), i.e. no hospitalization or anything like that, more of a generalized low-grade depression that had been going on and off for several years. Anyway, I felt much better after a couple of weeks, more energy, generally better mood. The last couple of months, however, that feeling has dropped off and I'm getting more depressive episodes. Not as bad as before lexapro, but enough to want to do something about it. My analyst has recommended going to 30 mg/day, but I can't find anything about a higher dosage. Is anyone taking more than 20mg/day?

I am doing very well on 30 mg. I have been on 30 for several months. Some people take 40.
