Nardil + Clonidine.........safe??

Posted by ace on April 25, 2004, at 23:12:31

This is another plan Ive got up my sleeve.

Some of you might remember Cam W....he used to post a lot on this site.

He deemed the combo of Clonidine and Nardil to be a no-no. (due to BP issues)

However, my doctor sees nothing too bad about this combo...

What do you guys think???

Clonidine generally produces depression.

Ace,
My doctor just put me on Parnate + Clonidine and I think she's pretty well educated about MAOIs. She doesn't seem to think there's a problem with this combo.

Hi Jasmine.

That's an interesting combination. If you don't mind my asking, I'm curious as to what you are being treated for and how clonidine fits in.

Thanks.

Hi Ace.

Is there a history of tics, Tourettes, or ADD in your family? You might be on to something.

Hey Scott,
The Parnate is for my social anxiety (my last resort after Nardil caused 20 lbs weight gain). The Clonidine is for 3 things. Moments of intense anxiety (rather than taking benzos), insomnia, but mainly for temper control. I tend to get agitated very easily and so this is to help stablilize my mood. I thought it was a strange combination myself, but I trust my doctor fully.
