New to this just need to talk

Posted by jasvncnt1 on April 20, 2004, at 9:21:26

Ive been dealing with depression since I was about 15. Im now 30. Ive tried to get help before but never really worked for me. It just felt like this is just teh way i am because i was dealing with it for so long. Well i recently went to get some help. I started getting panic attacks. The doctor put me on Resperidone (forgive my spelling). And now also added Effexor. I started reading these threads about it and it does scare me a bit. The Resperidone seemed to be working good for me. Anyone else on this?

Welcome to psycho babble. I have been taking effexor since last October. I think it has helped immensely with my panic attacks. They used to be 24/7 and now they kind of flutter in and out a couple of times a day. I also have xanax (.5mg) to help in the really bad bits. I had tried vistaril for the attacks but it didn't put a dent in them.

Yes, I am on Risperdal and it helps me sleep at night. I get severe anxiety when I try to sleep and depressed, and the Risperal does help alot and I only take .5 mg. You will hear alot of negative things and positive things about medications, but if it works for you, stick with it!
