the inconsistent therapist

Have you ever worried about your therapist being inconsistent - maybe having an off day, or in a bad mood, or with a sick kid? Me, too. I'm a therapist, and I'm planning a talk on this topic.

I'm looking for references on this - books, articles, even printed first-person or fictional accounts. Is there anything out there? Let me know - thanks.

Good topic.. I just recently dropped mine because she has an obsession with her cell phone.
I never felt like she was with me 100% so I decided to seek elswhere. I understand having an off day but this is her way every time.. so time to move on to someone who can give me what I need.

I don't know of any references, but I do know that these boards have a fair number of horror stories that show what patients experience when therapists have off days. The Psychology Board is where you'd find the largest number. You can also find a lot of posts about how much transference goes on from the other side of the office.

If you're interested, I could maybe write a few of my recent experiences down - -they might or might not be helpful, and I don't want to burden you since I think you're looking for published references, rather than individual reports. If you're interested, let me know.
