Lithium works in many mysterious ways. Lamictal works on Na and Ca channels primarily. It does other things too that we obviously haven't pinpointed yet. I take both and lithium keeps me level (not depressed/not anxious), it's sedating so I take it all at night. Lamictal is very activating so I take all of it in the morning. I have to increase the dose very slowly otherwise I get uncomfortably hypomanic. I think it's a good combo. Give it a try!

I can't answer your question but am interested in any answers to your post. I am currently on lamictal and my pdoc is adding lithium. I just read somewhere that lithium has an antidepressent effect, as well as lamictal. I can't take AD's because they make me manic. I have read here a few times that alot of ppl are on lithium and lamictal so it must be a good combo. That is good news to me as I will be comming up on my depressive cycle soon.
