Lamictal increase and agitation, irritability!!!

Posted by sac on April 14, 2004, at 9:11:15

I have recently increased my Lamictal from 150mgs. to 200 mgs and am experiencing agitation, hostility, and irritability. It's almost been a week since that increase. Does anyone know if and when this will pass?? I feel terrible right now and wonder if I will begin to feel better soon, that's what the Pdoc says to give it time. I am taking Serax to try to lessen the agitation but that is not doing much either. Any suggestions???

I would say it's a nasty version of hypomania. The same thing happens to me. I just feeel physically uncomfortable for the most part ( a lot of tension). Mine usually gets better within a day or two. It may take longer depending on the % increase you are making. I have found that a gradual increase helps quite a bit.

I agree. My Pdoc increased my Lamictal by 25mg every other week. I am at 200mg and will be working up to 300mg. Each time I increased the dose by 25mg I would experience some anxiety and agitation. After a few days this would go away. I would make sure you are increasing the dose slowly.

Thanks. I'll hang in there . (nm)
