Desperate to make a change - I have a Dr appointment Friday but I don't think I can make it that long. I am currently on 200 mg topomax (about 3 weeks at this level) .5mg risperdal(about 3 weeks total) and 10 mg lexapro (about 2 1/2 months) can I quit these med's cold turkey?
I feel horrible - like I am just coming out of anestesia - I can't think clearly, I can't see clearly. I am longing for just being depressed. Please Please give me your inputs on this - I am truly desperate.

Hi Twinmom,
I'm not sure about Topomax and Risperdal but I know for a fact that it is a bad idea to quit Lexapro cold turkey. It will make you feel worse to stop it suddenly. Taper off of it, talk to your pdoc about a tapering schedule that will work for you.
Please, DO NOT stop taking Lexapro cold turkey. People feel awful when they do this and the withdrawl can last for weeks. It sounds like you're having enough trouble without piling withdrawl on top of it. Taper off!
I'm sorry you're having trouble with finding the right meds. It sounds like you're definately on the wrong ones right now. You might call the pharmacy and ask how you would feel if you cut your med doses in half to 5 mgs of Lexapro, 100 mgs Topomax and .25 mgs of Risperdal.
My heart goes out to you and I hope you begin feeling better soon.
K.
