Hi all,
In passing, my pdoc said if I was worried about my brain function (brain fog), that I should go off Ambien because in concert with Celexa it is not good.
I didn't press him for further details as it was a morning appointment and I wasn't alert yet.
I'm asking you'll what you know about this because I'll have to wait another month for follow-up questions to the pdoc because he doesn't return calls (seriously overworked).
Anyone--on Ambien combined with Celexa at night?

Many people take a sleep sedative with an SSRI and don't have a problem with next day sedation.
But according to my own doc, a small percentage [about 20%] of his patients have a slight withdrawl effect from Ambien in the morning. The adverse effects can sometimes cause any of the following...sedation, dypshoria, restlessness, gastrointestinal discomfort, cognitive dysfunction [brain fog].
I myself found Ambien to make me a little out of it the next day. But then again, I am very sensitive to most meds, including benzo's and sleep aids.
It's likely that you won't have a problem with the Ambien/Celexa combo, I'm just making you aware of adverse effects that a minority of individuals have.
PS- I always found celexa to be a great AD but it did give me sleep disruption at times. An alternative option might be to consider another AD if the sleep aid doesn't work. Other things that helped me were exercise in the afternoon or a more natural supplement such as 5HTP or tryptophan at bedtime.
PPS- there are two more sleep aids on the horizon (estorra & indiplon). Estorra will be launched in the summer, and is being touted as having a longer half-life than Ambien, so there is less incidence of early-morning wakefulness.
