Hi...
I was given fluanxol today by my physciatrist, i dont understand why though.. ssri's raised my bp and hr and made me manic, snri's send me manic and raised my bp and hr..
I know this med is used for skitsophrenia (sp)
I told her i get manic and cant calm down... i told her i also get depressive eppisodes but i am mostely manic... she gives me this med?
I DONT LIKE THE SIDE AFFECTS.... i AM AFRAID TO TAKE IT..
She told me to take 1/2 a tab when i need to.. as an as needed basis.. up to 4 halfs a day...
Any experiences plse... ?

Yip might aswell... i can feel myself slipping into depresion... grrrr grrrr and am terrified to take this drug fluanxol and i am very comfortable takin my remeron (zispin) i been on it for a year so i might aswell raise the dose from 30mg to 45mg and hope for the best.. i might even get stocked up on some bach remedy's-ALTHOUGH FOR ANXIETY...
What to do now i am slipping nto depression grrrr grrrr help plse!!

Sounds a bit strange to me. But I dont really know you, maybe she has some reasons to. Generally I think that Fluanxol schouldnt be prescribed anymore. It has so many side effects. i am not aware of any use of Fluanxol for bipolar. I think it helps with depression at low dosage. Its disinhibiting, like Amisulpride for example. But it might also have an anti anxiety effect. And maybe she doesnt want to prescribe you any of the newer sedating antipsychotics, because of the weight gain on them.
And I am a bit surprised she somewhat ignored your bipolar symptoms. hmm, visiting another pdoc is quite impossible for you, as far as I know. Was this the appointment you were waiting months for? Quite disappointing.

fluanxol does not appear to be the best drug to help with anxiety and or hyper/agitated states. If you don't feel comfortable taking it, call the p-doc ( I know its' limited overthere in UK) but tell them you are very uncomfortable with taking something that used to be used primarily for Chronic Schizophrenics! You are definitely not Schizophrenic - It is your anxiety states that makes you feel scared , nervous and make you feel like you might be schizo- but from reading lots of your other posts your just a gal that needs proper treatment for high anxiety & if youre like me, it is your anxiety that is causing a lot of your depression ! For what its worth sometimes a higher dose of remeron can make some more anxious and you might want to teeter back and forth between 15 and 30 mgs- to see the best benefits -YMMV- 30 mgs made me want to destroy people! ( I did'nt though) hope this helps
