Does anyone know of one of those step down procedures for getting off an SSRI? I need to get off of 30 mgs. of Remeron that I have been on for over 2 1/2 years. How slow to go? and is there a point where going too slow is a detrement? Thanks for any advice.
P.S. I have experience weaning off SSRI's I would just like to know if anyone has a way to do it without the horrible side effects.

Hey rainbow, no specific advice other than the fact that ssri's most always need careful discontinuation to avoid serious withdrawl- My pdoc just told me to just quit taking Remeron - from 30 to 15mg for 3 or 4 days then stop and and I did experience a little bit of rebound insomnia. But since remeron is not structurally related to the ssri's this would make sense that there would'nt be much of a W/D syndrome. So for myself I did not experience any W/D problems FWIW I would still reccomend asking your pdoc.!!
take care

I keep forgetting Remeron is not technically an SSRI. I have tried to go off really quick over the period of a week or two and it really messes my moods up.
