I am convinced that Lamictal has caused me to become depressed and irritable. I have been on 200 mg. daily for about 2 months or so. I have not taken any for over 24 hours. I felt great at work today. Tonight,I started getting a headache and not feeling well. Of course, now I am panicking that I will have a seizure. Do I have to titrate off this med? Don't people who get a rash that is suspect discontinue abruptly? Intuitively, I feel that this medication has caused behavioral and personality changes in me that have caused me distress in my work and homelife. I started to lose all perspective, cry at the drop of a hat, and generally became quite annoying to my co-workers. Not a good thing if one needs to work.

I haven't researched this myself but when I stopped Lamictal I did it over a few weeks, halving the dose each time as I recall. Is there any reason you can't do this? It seems sensible to be cautious with any drug.

hi jane d, today would be my 8th week of taking lamictal and beleive I was having several difficulties taking it. so I finally got my p-doc to D/C it. from 200 mg to 100mg per day for 5 days then 50mgs for 5 days then stop it..I guess that it would most likely depend on dosage and duration of taking Lam. as to how long to titrate down to 0.. good luck and BTW do you mind if I ask why you are discontinuing it?

hi jane, I stopped it because i felt it was causing extra anxiety and interferance with my sleep -in which I am so sensetive to- and the severe pains in neck back shoulders etc. I hope theses s/e's will disapear when I am completely off!! Good Luck to Ya
