The Mighty Prozac

Posted by jms600 on March 25, 2004, at 15:44:30

My P/doc has just started me on Prozac and i've only been on it for a few days. I've been on a number of other Anti-depressants, but the reason my P/doc put me on Prozac was due to my lack of motivation, terrible lack of interest in everday things, apathy, lethargy and what I call SDB - 'Severe Depressive Boredom' (!!)

I just don't have any interest in things anymore.

Is Prozac the most stimulating anti-depressant out there (apart from Parnate)? Is there anything more stimulating than Prozac which is useful for apathy, lack of interest in things (as I described above) etc etc?

I hope it works, I don't know how much longer I can tolerate this severe apathy and boredom.

Any views comments or suggestions will be, as always, most appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi JMS600,

I think I've mentioned this to you before, but I really loved Prozac. In my case it was a very stimulating antidepressant that helped me become interested in things again. I really hope you have a good experience with it.

I have a similar problem on Lexapro. I'm disinterested and flat so tomorrow I'm adding Wellbutrin. Wish me luck!

K.

Bored with being bored. How ironic. :) I know what you mean. Prozac didn't work for me, but others did. Boredom was alievated when I started taking an interest in life again. It'll happen.

I've been on prozac for a long time. IT keeps me from being depressed unmotivated, but the lack of any emotion and being "flat" on prozac just caused me lack of motivation, I can't experience the emotion of Joy for example.

My doctor just took me off of it today, we'll see how I do?!?!?. Also, Welbutrin is probably the most "uplifting" anti-depressant. I am on WelbutinXL and it definetly helps!

Good Luck!
Peggy
